• 2 lbs of lean ground beef or turkey
• 1 cup of brown rice
• 1 cup of chopped carrots (I love to also add in frozen green beans in the last hour!)
• 1 cup of chopped sweet potatoes
• 1/2 cup of peas
• 4 cups of low-sodium beef or chicken broth
• 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Instructions:

1. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
2. Transfer the cooked meat to the slow cooker.
3. Add the brown rice, chopped carrots, sweet potatoes, and peas to the slow cooker, stirring to combine.
4. Pour the low-sodium broth over the ingredients in the slow cooker.
5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the rice and vegetables are tender and the flavors have melded together.
6. Once the stew is cooked, allow it to cool completely before serving to your dog. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
